SARA HOLTZ
Sara Holtz, M.S.
Veterinary Technician
Sara's professional journey began at the University of Idaho, where she balanced her academic pursuits with managing the university's intercollegiate polo team. Graduating with a B.S. in Animal Science in 2016, she ventured into the equestrian industry with a KEMI internship at Lane's End Oak Tree in Kentucky, gaining invaluable experience in Thoroughbred breeding and handling.
Transitioning to the role of head show groom for renowned equestrian athlete Will Coleman, Sara immersed herself in elite show grooming, attending prestigious events such as the Rolex Three Day Event and the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon, NC.
During her time with Will Coleman, Sara developed a deep respect for Dr. Peters, a prominent Sports Medicine Veterinarian. In 2020 changed paths and pursued graduate studies at Middle Tennessee State University, focusing on equine nutrition, physiology, and event management. Her thesis, "The Use and Perceptions of Alternative Therapies in the Horse Industry," showcased her dedication to understanding evolving equine care practices.
Armed with her M.S. in Horse Science Industry Management, Sara returned to Lexington, Kentucky, where she joined Dr. Peters and Dr. Bidwell's esteemed practice as a technician. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring Kentucky, Michigan, and Southern California with her two dogs Henry and Indio, and her cat Lucifer and embracing the diverse experiences each region offers.
